Ephesus is the best-preserved Roman city in the Mediterranean region, and one of Turkey's top sights. If you want to visit a place where you can really get a feel for what life was like 2000 years ago during the glory days of Greece and Rome, Ephesus is the place. In terms of ruins, it's better than Rome itself.
Having said this, we operate tours from different cities across Turkey to Ephesus including Istanbul, Izmir, Kuşadası, Selcuk, and Pamukkale.
Besides the grandness of this Roman heritage, you will visit the House of Virgin Mary where she is said to have spent the last years of her life.
On this tour, you will also visit Seven Sleepers, which is increasingly getting popular with both Christians and Muslims. According to the Christian legend, around 250AD, when Christians were being fiercely persecuted, seven young men refusing to recant their faith, gave their worldly goods to the poor and retreated to a mountain cave to pray where they eventually fall asleep. The emperor had the cave walled for them to die inside. However two centuries later when the cave was reopened they were found there sleeping. So they woke up and came down to the streets of Ephesus and found out that they can worship Christ with no fear.
The ‘Cave of the Seven Sleepers’ became a major place of pilgrimage from the 5th to 15th centuries. Muslims also believe that the sleepers slept 309 years in their cave. A church has been built above this Grotto by the Christians. They were later buried in the same cave where you can see their tombs.
And last but not least, you will head towards one of Seven Wonders of the Ancient World: Temple of Artemis.
