Besides its natural beauty, Nemrut Crater Lake contains hot and cold lakes, ice caves, steam chimneys and various bird species.
Nemrut Crater Lake is located at the top of Mount Nemrut, a extinct volcano, in the borders of Tatvan District of Bitlis province. It is known as the “paradise of Alexander the great” because it is believed that Alexander The Great discovered it during the eastern expedition.
Nemrut Crater is the first in Turkey in terms of size, fourth in Europe and sixth in the world. It also has the title of the second largest caldera in the world.
