Yet even in a place like Marmaris, ‘the traditional Turkey’ is not as far away as you may think, with only an hour drive you can see almost a century-old lifestyle and culture.
Our day starts with the pick-up from your hotel at around 9:30 am depending on hotel location and drive to the quiet and beautiful countryside. Arriving at the Bayir village after 30-40 minutes driver, the village welcomes you with its small mosque where we'll stop to learn more about religious traditions in Turkey, its 2000-year-old “wishing tree” and its school. The village school is open from the middle of September to the middle of June and during that period you will meet children there and get an idea about the education system in Turkey. This is also the village you will taste delicious local honey (flower, pine and eucalyptus).
Our next stop is Turgut village and the beautiful natural waterfall and 300-year-old watermill. Here, you may swim in the ice-cold water. Then we will have lunch at a nice local restaurant (fish or chicken grill with salad and traditional Turkish bread). After lunch, we will visit a traditional village house where you can taste organic herbal teas offered by the local family.
The famous Kizkumu Beach (Mermaid sand) in Orhaniye village is our next stop. There is 600 meters long and 2-meter wide sand spit there that allows you to walk on water. Get this unforgettable experience, swim in the warm Aegean Sea and relax on the beautiful beach. Camel ride is optional for an extra charge. You will be back at the hotel between 5:00 – 5:30 pm.
